about

A sonic marriage of ambient sound and guitar finger picking, Splinters is a collaboration based in opposition. This song reflects the duality of existing through daily pain and escapism, but outwardly presenting a placid and calm façade. In Splinters, Wanja and Rushab illustrate a story of overcoming and wallowing, of sinking and rising. Traversing these oppositions that exist in the journey from acknowledgement to convalescence and healing, and finally, to a new beginning.

lyrics

I said it wasn’t a problem but I lied
I said I wasn’t in trouble but I lied
I don’t even think much about it anymore
The splinter in my foot’s become a part of me

Ooh cause I can’t feel it
No I can’t feel it anymore

They tell me - You can’t have a problem you’re alright
Just look how you run, how you walk, how you dance all night,
You don’t need to think to hard about it don’t fight
There’s broken legs everywhere
Your pains not there just say that,

You can’t feel it
Oh you can’t feel it

Splinters and shallow wounds
Hinder the way you move
Splinters and shallow cuts will slow you down

Splinters and shallow wounds
Are hurting you
That splinter inside your foot might just
Be too much

I never thought I’d have this trouble I’m compromised
It turns out, everybody’s lying - big surprise
It’s time to pull the trigger, grab the tweezers and look inside
It’s time to heal to stop, to pull with all my might
Just so that,

I can feel it
Cause I want to feel it

Splinters and shallow wounds
Hinder the way you move
Splinters and shallow cuts will slow you down

Splinters and shallow wounds
Are hurting you
That splinter inside your cup might just
Be enough
